Was all ready and excited because I was about to delve into cupcakes from Cakeitaway - a treat to myself after a long suppression from anything sweet. Always a delightful way to start your day!!!!

Getting a taste of good cupcakes is not hard with the recent cupcake frenzy that is catching up in Mumbai, but for a vegetarian like me it becomes almost impossible to find a decent vegetarian place for good ones.
With a big sweet tooth that I have, the moment I read the words 'vegetarian' and 'cake' in one line, I go completely dizzy until I have had a taste of it. So here I was reading about Cakeitaway cupcakes, a recent startup by 25 years old Natali, on BPB and the cupcakes jumped out at me calling 'SJ, SJ, look at me, I am a delicious piece of petite cake topped with frothy swirls of icing and demure garnishes of berries. I am exactly the kind of cupcakes you have been dreaming of'.......... SOS - I immediately called Natali to get details of how can I pacify my desire for these cupcakes. She makes all the cupcakes herself from her home on order (you have to order a day in advance), which you can collect from her place on G Road on Marine Drive at Rajhans Bldg. Was a little disappointed considering I live in Juhu and she does not offer home delivery. But for a sweet aficionado like me, there's no stopping if I want to have something.
So a few days later (which was sometime in Jan this year) I ordered pretty much everything from the menu - Cotton Candy, Chocolate Swirl, CinnApple, Nutty Butty, Banana Split, Black Forest to name a few - and drove all the way to Marine Drive to pick the cupcakes. And honestly I am glad that I made all that effort. They were the best cupcakes I have ever had, in fact it was the first time that I ever liked cupcakes (the vegetarian options I had tried so far just killed my urge to eat cupcakes).
Customised Blow Cupcake
Classic flavours huddle under a range of coloured frosting in pastel to bright hues. She even tops cupcakes with designer logos, rakhis, halloween and features smashing flavour combinations like vanilla and bubblegum, apple cinnamon, chocolate and gooey grape and banana and peanut butter.
Apple Cinnamon and Black Forest
How did I like them? They were all moist, full of flavor, and decorated to perfection. In fact, they were almost too cute to eat. And the moment I poped-it-in it immediately melted in my mouth. There has been no stopping ever since.......
But with constant hammering from my trainer of restraining on sweets, its been a while that I had anything called 'cake or chocolate'. So the moment I got these babies I was just as giddy as ever (when I say giddy I mean that my face completely transformed with an expression that those love-struck people have when they are brimming and glowing with love and freeze with excitement the moment they see their loved one).
Snapshot of what I ate
Natali makes these little darling bite-sized cupcakes, which she calls minis, that are just a bit bigger than a coin (in addition to the regular sized cupcakes). I ordered 5 flavours of minis, to ensure I don't go overboard. I've tried pretty much all flavours and apple cinnamon and black forest are my absolute favourites.
So if you are looking for getting a taste of vegetarian or vegan cupcakes in Mumbai, cakeitaway is the right place for you. All her cupcakes are 100 percent eggless and her cake base is vegan; although she uses milk derivatives for the buttercream. You can request for a vegan cupcake if you need. The minis are for Rs 20 each and you need to order a minimum of 12 (with min. 4 pieces of each flavour) and regulars are for Rs 45 each with minimum order of 6 cupcakes (atleast 3 pieces of one flavour).
Just call up Natali (@9820951925 or email her at natali@cakeitaway.in) a day prior to when you need and she'll keep them ready. She even customises cupcakes for birthdays, themed parties and also makes exclusive flavours and designs for special occassions like Valentine's, Halloween, New Year's, Diwali, Christmas to sweeten up your day. You can also get photo cupcakes if you order them 2-3 days in advance.
Will need to workout more to have another round of these delicious babies!!!
xoxo
