What good a life would be if there's no challenge in it?........
That one moment when you're giddy with pleasure for finding what you've been looking for all your life. Finding terre d'Oc lipstick was this moment for me.
The relationship with me and my lipstick has always been a sore one and its not me but the lipstick that has to be blamed for its chip grease reaction. I've experimented a tonnes of shades and brands (the previously novice me with not-necessarily vegetarian and the now wiser me with vegetarian brands) but no avail. So after ransacking beauty sections of nearly all department stores across the world (in-person or online), I finally found the best vegetarian lipstick ever from a French organic make-up and skincare brand - terre d'Oc (and yes it contains no carmine). Wahooooo!!
A reply from terre d'Oc, on the email inquiry sent to them, confirmed that they are a vegetarian and cruelty-free company - "we are not testing our products on animals and we don’t use animal ingredients, except beewax ( in some products to thicken the texture)".
So after a moistened lip anticipation for terre d'Oc Coral lipstick ever since I discovered it and ordered it online from Naturisimo, when it finally arrived I was jumping up and down with pleasure because by far it was the best lipstick I ever tried. With its moisture rich formula, I'm guessing its all those goody oils (argan oil, musk rose oil), the lipstick glides on smoothly without leaving lips chappy even hours after application. d’oc is certified as organic by ECOCERT, a French organic certification organization. Another delight was reading the box in which it came in. Now you may be wondering she has completely lost it but bear with me. Apart from the usuals, the box actually lists the percentage of organic ingredients used in the product (40% in 203). Who does that, right? I am really loving terre d'Oc. Its organic and vegetarian, smells good and doesn't chip, the colour is great so is the packaging (who needs a man, right?).
What good a life would be if there's no challenge in it? Yawnnnn... dull and boring. Being a veggie (which means no-leather and no make-up that contains animal ingredients) has always put me in challenging situations - whether it be the heated debates over my strong vegetarian beliefs from people on the complete other end of the spectrum (or those who always look for an opportunity to pick on a person) or be it finding good vegetarian restaurants and make-up products that delivers quality and variety. And I absolutely love it.
Call me obsessed or crazy, but taking someone's life for fashion is just not my style.

Sincerely, Read my Lips: I'm a Vegetarian
I hereby certify terre d'Oc lipstick as the best vegetarian lipstick ever (and yes I've even tried Urban Decay).

My husband and I just quarrels about vegetarianism/veganism yesterday.. and we're both omnivores! haha
ReplyDeleteHe was against it and I was for it... bla bla... as long as you're well educated on your diet and doing it for your own reasons, I don't find it harmful. People who pick on you are just arrogant !! whew.. end vent
Anyways. The lipstick is beautiful :D

never heard of it bt am a big fan of french cosmetics. lovely picts n gr8 website.
ReplyDeletei was bummed to hear tht most makeup companies arent veg, was recently told by ma friend. so sad tht ppl cant mke informed and responsible choices. being a vegetarian means not only nt eatin meat but also leading a lifestyle tht wudnt kill poor animals. sad to knw most dont care, we've become so selfish tht we dont care how a life is first brutally tortured n then killed fr our belts, shoes and makeup.
i was really sad when i discovered about my makeup and threw everything inhuman i had. its nt hard to find good veg brands. thanx fr the infromative psot. will sure order this brand, looks interesting.
I could have never written any post as if Lipstick is my buddy .Great post seriously..I love the way you jotted all points for a small thing like lipstick.. Ur lips are fabulous :)

Love the shade, got myself something similar from Inglot and loved it :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so cool that you're so passionate about a lifestyle that benefits almost everybody! While not a veggie myself, I do try to purchase more organic and gentle items for myself and friends. I love that shade of lipstick, maybe I'll have to give the brand a try, it sounds very interesting. Thank you so much for visiting my blog, it really meant a lot to me. I really like the layout and concept of your blog, so just keep up the good work!
