About Me

My photo
Style Destino is my personal style space bout cruelty-free and vegetarian style. Fashion is not above someone's life and it is irresponsible when someone makes a fashion choice that involves taking a poor animal's life. I believe in style that has a conscience. We are in 21st century where technology has advanced immensely, there are myriad options available and any person with a desire can make things happen. So it is sheer selfishness and irresponsible behaviour when people make unethical fashion choices. Through StyleDestino I share everything cruelty-free and ethical in my style. I do not use any handbags, shoes or accessories made from leather (animal skin), the make-up I use is also vegetarian and cruelty free. Luxury and compassion can coexist stylishly and Style Destino is an attempt to prove just that. Vegan fashion is not about dowdy clothes, cheap bags, or tawdry shoes. I can just easily be vegan and trot in my Olsen heels, sporting a Stella McCartney luxurious vegan handbag while showing off my red lips painted with OCC lip tar!! I travel the world around and never find dearth of stylish, high quality vegetarian fashion.

Craving for Cupcakes {Vegan}

“As long as we have memories, yesterday remains. As long as we have hope, tomorrow awaits. As long as we have cupcakes, today is beautiful.”

(These cupcakes had a long journey and hence they aren't as spruced up yet delectable)

Colourful pretty cupcakes with blobs of sweet frosting garnered attention and fancy and had been the 'it' dessert among urban Indians. But for some the cupcake mania might be dissuading thanks to their ubiquity with every next bakery selling their own versions of cupcakes. Nevertheless, they're still one of the favourite items to satisfy my sweet craving.

Ever since Natali of cakeitaway stopped baking her vegetarian and vegan cupcakes (remember reading Yummy Suff....... Best Cupcakes in Town?), my craving for them only aggravated and the hunt for the vegetarian (only) place for cupcakes began. The determination and perseverance to quench the cupcake thirst {literally} finally lead me to the vegan home bakery Green Stove, Mumbai. Aha, and their cupcakes topped with buttercream (made from no butter, milk or any animal sourced ingredients) was a happy respite.

I called Rithika of Green Stove, ordered a boxful of them and got them collected from Matunga (she doesn't home deliver but offers two collection points - Thane or Matunga). They were indeed a pleasant surprise. Trust me, just as making a (delicious) vegan cake is a challenge the same way even mustering up the courage to try a vegan cake is an equally big challenge. I've tried vegan cakes from around the world and it has been one hell of an experiment - from muddy to bitter to delicious, my journey of the vegan desserts has been quite eventful. And trust me, as far as vegan desserts are concerned the looks can be very deceiving. I think I'll have to devote one whole post on that.....

Green Stove's vegan cupcakes were indeed delicious, soft and perfectly moist (standing up an equal to their non-vegan counterparts). The buttercream frosting was good, but I preferred cakeitaway's and it could be because her buttercream though vegetarian, was not vegan.

These sweet treats would definitely make my weekend.

While we were enjoying the cupcakes, just played some dress up at home. Ah yes the belt. Lately I just find myself trying to work my every look around this green belt (seems like I have a little crush over the belt, and the colour is the culprit for the crush) and just to accentuate the 'green-ness' of the belt I would dress up in all black or all white and throw it up and enjoy the pop of colour. Ahem Ahem. You must be wondering how silly is that, but its fun. The green pop of colour just cheers me up.

Have a wonderful cupcake-ful weekend!!
