About Me

My photo
Style Destino is my personal style space bout cruelty-free and vegetarian style. Fashion is not above someone's life and it is irresponsible when someone makes a fashion choice that involves taking a poor animal's life. I believe in style that has a conscience. We are in 21st century where technology has advanced immensely, there are myriad options available and any person with a desire can make things happen. So it is sheer selfishness and irresponsible behaviour when people make unethical fashion choices. Through StyleDestino I share everything cruelty-free and ethical in my style. I do not use any handbags, shoes or accessories made from leather (animal skin), the make-up I use is also vegetarian and cruelty free. Luxury and compassion can coexist stylishly and Style Destino is an attempt to prove just that. Vegan fashion is not about dowdy clothes, cheap bags, or tawdry shoes. I can just easily be vegan and trot in my Olsen heels, sporting a Stella McCartney luxurious vegan handbag while showing off my red lips painted with OCC lip tar!! I travel the world around and never find dearth of stylish, high quality vegetarian fashion.

Celebrating a Sustainable Diwali!

Celebrating a Sustainable Diwali!

Dressing up is a big part of Diwali celebrations. But with so much fashion waste ending up in landfills, let’s steer away from buying a new Diwali outfit for the 2021 festivities. Instead, dig out something from your closet and rewear or restyle it. Or raid your mom’s closet and give an interesting spin to her sarees or lehengas.  How can we make this Diwali sustainable? 🪔 Instead of gifting sweets with tonnes of wasteful packaging, gift experiences. Or choose healthier alternatives like dates. Buy those in bulk and pack them sustainably. For example, you can g ive them a personal touch by wrapping them up in recyclable paper yourself.   🪔 Make Diwali parties plastic-free. Make use of biodegradable cutlery & plates over plastic or thermocole options.  🪔 Reuse the decorations you put up last year. Most decoration products are made from plastic, and if they are single-use they end up in landfills.  🪔 Try a vegan Diwali this time, will be great for your health, skin, and the pla

Sustainable Denim Brands That Make Eco-friendly Vegan Jeans

Sustainable Denim Brands That Make Eco-friendly Vegan Jeans

Denim is really our best friend. We've grown up in them, it is an essential part of our life and I am sure there won't be any wardrobe on earth without a pair of denim pants in them. And no matter how many jeans we own, we all have that perfect pair that we wear everywhere we go - from walks and shopping to a night-out. But there is a scary reality behind every pair of jeans we own and every denim jacket in our wardrobe - they come from excessive harm to the planet. Shocked? So was I when I learned about it. Let me show you how with some verified numbers. It takes about 3,781 liters of water to produce a single pair of jeans. Oh yes, 3-7-8-1 liters for just one pair - I am not making it up, its an official figure from Levis Strauss . Much of this wastewater is full of hazardous chemicals (some carcinogenic too!) and toxic dyes, and once they flow back into our rivers and oceans, these substances have a permanent destructive impact on ecosystems and local communities. Sustainable Living Is Not About Perfection: My Imperfect Sustainable Style

Sustainable Living Is Not About Perfection: My Imperfect Sustainable Style

Sustainability has become a hot topic everywhere. A surfeit of brands that are calling themselves sustainable or eco-friendly have recently flooded the market, behemoths like Unilever, Zara, H&M, are launching sustainable products and collections. Magazines, newspapers, and digital publications are all about tips and tricks to incorporate sustainability into your lifestyle. Whether it is switching to a zero-waste shampoo barm choosing a bamboo toothbrush, buying sneakers made from recycled plastic waste, or using reusable bags for your grocery shopping, there are plenty of products and ideas to inspire you to make conscious chocies. This is great news, and I believe we are living in exciting times because finally people are accepting the impact of climate change and are aware of the consequences of their choices. But at the same time, so much information can be overwhelming for some. Plus, there is a lot of pressure to be perfect. As a consequence, many people end up not doing an

Too Many Clothes & Nothing To Wear? Time to Inculcate Sustainable Fashion Habits

Too Many Clothes & Nothing To Wear? Time to Inculcate Sustainable Fashion Habits

Too many clothes and nothing to wear? This is a battle fought by most of us nearly every day of our lives. The compelling habit of shopping is too hard to resist. Easy access to cheap clothing {fast fashion}, coupled with irresistible deals (think discount codes, free shipping with free returns) makes things worse. The temptation even leads us into buying things we don't need. Result? Our wardrobes are bursting with clothes, expensive real estate is wasted on cheap fashion items, we have piles of things with the tags still on..... and a planet that's suffering. The abundance of fast fashion has created an environmental and social justice crisis. We have a serious problem of rising landfills due to textile waste (where do you think all your clothes go when you discard them?), unavailability of clean water and clean air, and rising pollution. Of course, there are other issues. Fast fashion = low quality, cheap clothing, but someone is paying the cost for us. Yes, I mean t

Sunglasses and Sustainability - Eco-friendly Sunglasses To Love

Sunglasses and Sustainability - Eco-friendly Sunglasses To Love

I have to admit, I am a sucker for sunglasses. Sunglasses are one of the most versatile accessories - we all have them and love them. I am guilty of having over a dozen pairs, some from before I started my sustainable journey and a few after. A good pair of sunnies can totally change the vibe of an outfit instantly upgrading it from drab to fab. Wouldn't you agree?  It's a well-known fact that vast areas in our oceans are literally filling up with plastic. Everything we buy is either wrapped in plastic or made from plastic or actually both. Sunglasses are no exception. I've been vocal about the plastic problem in our wardrobes . However, most of that conversation has always been about the clothes.  Have you ever thought about what are your eyewear made of and what are they packaged in? Yup, you guessed it right. The answer is plastic.  Most of the eyewear in the market, even from luxury brands, are crafted from plastic and materials that harm the environment. These materi

What About Plastic In Your Clothing | ACE The Sustainable Wardrobe

What About Plastic In Your Clothing | ACE The Sustainable Wardrobe

Abuse of plastic is one of the biggest problems our generation is facing.  The problem is not the plastic, its the way we are irresponsibly using the material.  Single-use plastic - the plastic that we only use once and throw away forgetting that it will outlive your generation and next's, is one of the major problems. While we have started being more mindful about single-use plastic use like plastic bottles, plastic straws, food that comes in plastic-packaging, we pay little heed to the plastic in our clothes and wardrobes. And I am not talking about the plastic packaging. Did you know 65% of clothing produced worldwide is made from plastic? From your gorgeous flowy dress, sexy swimsuits, and underwear (yes even that!) to your stylish vegan heels & chic handbag everything has plastic. Surprised?  The problem is the when these garments are washed, they shed and release thousands of tiny, unseen microplastics (or microfibers) into the oceans, consumed by sea creatu

Your Complete Guide to Sustainable Fashion in Dubai

Your Complete Guide to Sustainable Fashion in Dubai

Last updated: 25th June 2020 ‘ Sustainable fashion ’ aren’t just buzzwords but its the need of the hour and the future of fashion. We are consciously damaging our planet and it turns out a lot of it has to do with the way we produce and consume things. How? In case you didn’t know already, fashion is the second most polluting industry in the world.  The good thing is, we are living in interesting times where technology and innovation have given us access to materials that we never thought possible. However, at the same time, consumerism and mass production is damaging our planet and exploiting the people involved in making the beautiful clothing and accessories we wear. It is time to give some thought to how our fashion choices affect the lives of so many people and our planet and start making a change. The exploitation of labor has been going on for decades, but after the Rana Plaza collapse in Bangladesh, on 24th April 2013, the dark side of the fashion industry finally ca
