About Me

My photo
Style Destino is my personal style space bout cruelty-free and vegetarian style. Fashion is not above someone's life and it is irresponsible when someone makes a fashion choice that involves taking a poor animal's life. I believe in style that has a conscience. We are in 21st century where technology has advanced immensely, there are myriad options available and any person with a desire can make things happen. So it is sheer selfishness and irresponsible behaviour when people make unethical fashion choices. Through StyleDestino I share everything cruelty-free and ethical in my style. I do not use any handbags, shoes or accessories made from leather (animal skin), the make-up I use is also vegetarian and cruelty free. Luxury and compassion can coexist stylishly and Style Destino is an attempt to prove just that. Vegan fashion is not about dowdy clothes, cheap bags, or tawdry shoes. I can just easily be vegan and trot in my Olsen heels, sporting a Stella McCartney luxurious vegan handbag while showing off my red lips painted with OCC lip tar!! I travel the world around and never find dearth of stylish, high quality vegetarian fashion.

Quinoa Cutlet with Hummus: Easy High Protein Vegan Recipe

But what about protein? Do vegans get enough protein in their diet? Its a shame, even today people think that protein is an issue on a vegan {or even a vegetarian} diet when it absolutely is not. It's a myth propagated by the meat and dairy industry, perhaps. You can get more than enough protein on a plant-based diet. Today I am sharing one of my favorite protein rich vegan recipes - Quinoa Cutlet with Hummus. This easy vegan meal packs great for lunch, picnics, and even travel. Quinoa is one of my favorite goods and I especially love it for its versatility. You can cook it as a salad , replace it with rice, add it to burrito bowls or chilli and even make quinoa porridge or quinoa upma for breakfast . Most importantly, it is a nutrition powerhouse. Quinoa, which is technically a seed but is classified as a whole grain, is not only packed with myriad of vitamins and minerals but is also a great source of protein. In fact, quinoa is one of the few foods that is a  complete pro

Ultimate Immune Boosting Turmeric Tea

Ultimate Immune Boosting Turmeric Tea

For over 5 years, I start my day with my immune boosting turmeric tea. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know my love turmeric tea and turmeric latte. After so many requests from you, I am finally putting together the ultimate Immune Boosting Turmeric Tea recipe that I have perfected over the years. Turmeric has been used in Ayurveda as a medicine for centuries to treat wounds, infections, colds, liver diseases and other health issues. The curcumin compound found in turmeric is majorly responsible for its healing properties. Research has proven that curcumin is a powerful antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. I always add black pepper in my turmeric tea and lattes, and here's why. On its own, turmeric is notorious for having poor bioavailability, meaning it is not well-absorbed by the body. However, black pepper contains the bioactive compound piperine, which is known to boost the absorption of curcumin by ~2000 per c

When we consume a lot of junk food, our body feels like crap and doesn't function at its best. The same way if we consume a lot of junk information, our mind is going to feel like crap and not function at its best. The information that we consume on a daily basis not only affects our daily thoughts, emotions, and mood, but it also shapes our overall perspective on the world. We are consuming massive amounts of data everyday, and our consumption has multiplied during the quarantine period. Even people who were low data users in pre-corona days are now found scrolling on their devices all-day consuming information. That's a lot of information........ Now, the important question we all need to ask ourselves is - Are we feeding ourselves with a healthy data diet? My guess is the answer is NO. Besides all the binge watching of series we are indulging in and the Instagram stories and feed that we are watching, let us use this time we have to also learn about mindfulness

Miomojo: The Sustainable Italian Brand That Makes Cool Vegan Bags & Accessories

Miomojo: The Sustainable Italian Brand That Makes Cool Vegan Bags & Accessories

Leather's environmental impact is often misplaced. If you thought that leather is better than its synthetic alternatives because it is a “natural” material that will eventually decompose, think again. Every leather item in your wardrobe not only comes with cruelty but also bears a hefty price-tag for the planet. The livestock industry is responsible for nearly 15% of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions and contributes significantly to deforestation. People often forget how toxic the leather tanning process could be for the planet and workers. An animal decomposes when it’s natural. However, for the leather material to last, the animal skin undergoes a lot of chemical treatments, after which it isn’t going to decompose in your wardrobe. These workers who process leather are often victims of deadly diseases, respiratory illness, and skin conditions due to exposure to toxic chemicals. Animal cruelty, usage of chemicals, cutting down of rainforests and fires to clear forests f

Easy Vegan Chilli Recipe With Simple Ingredients

Easy Vegan Chilli Recipe With Simple Ingredients

Here is the ultimate vegan chili recipe with a chocolaty twist (literally). It’s simple, requiring just a few basic ingredients, and comes together in less than 1 hour. For this recipe, I have only added kidney beans, which are especially high in iron and vitamin B1, but you can also add red lentils, black beans or even quinoa. This chili has a thick stew-like texture and uses only tomatoes, ginger, peppers, green chili and celery among the vegetables. You can skip celery if you don't have and add pumpkin or play around with vegetables you have in your kitchen. However, tomatoes is a mandatory as its the base of the recipe. This recipe is really simple to make, needs no super chef skills. While it does take some time to cook, if you really want all the flavors to come together. I cooked it for about an hour, but if you are short of time, cut down on cooking time. Also, I like to use all fresh ingredients and I don't use any packaged food, so right from the tomatoes to

Creamy Mango & Strawberry Smoothie Bowl: Healthy Breakfast Treat

Creamy Mango & Strawberry Smoothie Bowl: Healthy Breakfast Treat

Getting the perfect creamy texture in the smoothie brings great joy. And when it tastes like heaven in a bowl, it almost makes your day. Don't you agree? Smoothies are a great healthy breakfast option. They're ridiculously easy to make, filled with fruits and veggies (aka nutrition), and are ready in just a few minutes. I am all about the MANGOES right now. They are in season and make a great base for smoothie - they're creamy, sweet and add amazing flavor. Did you know that mangoes are packed with nutrition? They're high in fiber, and are good source of vitamins A and C. They also contain folate, B6, iron and are packed with antioxidants. Mango and berries have been my favorite smoothie ingredients lately - I AM OBSESSED with the combination. To make a perfect smoothie bowls, you need to make sure you have the right toppings that are artfully stacked above the smoothie. You can play around with any toppings of your choice. You just need to make sure they comple

#PayUp Fashion Industry To Your Garment Workers

“#PAYUP FASHION INDUSTRY” In times of crisis, it is the most vulnerable people in society who suffer the most impact. This is the situation currently for the millions of workers in the fashion industry who make our clothes, shoes, bags, etc, most of them women. Irony is that, in this time of need, the fashion industry is failing its workers. According to Fashion Revolution, its common practice in fashion industry for brands to pay their suppliers months after delivery. So suppliers pay upfront for the materials used to make products, incurring cost while waiting for incoming payments. Now, with the chaos created by the corona virus pandemic major fashion brands are cancelling orders & stopping payments, shirking responsibility towards its global supply chain, even when the work has already been done. Of course, even the brands are in crisis but they can’t shift the financial burden onto the supply chain, especially when most have reported hundreds of millions of dollars (so
