It is amazing how you can find talent in the most unexpected places. On one of my online journeys, I discovered some wonderful pictures clicked by unknown yet really talented photographers who captured the colours of India at the most unusual places through their lenses. Shashwat Shah , a photographer by hobby and jeweler by profession, does not like to take pictures of the obvious places like h eritage sites or museums, but rather he loves to click private houses and havelis hidden in unknown alleys of Rajasthan, which are symbol of cultural grandeur and splendour of yesteryears but are now mostly in dilapidated states. The houses that he has brought to life through his photography, most of which are atleast 200 years old, have beautiful wall art, windows, frescoes, domes and exquisite carvings and are a testimony of the glorious history of India. On one of his photographic ventures, while capturing these images, Shashwat was amazed to discover that these exotic mur
A beautiful Sunday sunset by the beach ................ I am getting dotty... Sumptuous dots have always been my favourites in the print department. And last summer when I could not find one piece of polka-dot clothing that I could fit into, it led to a huge craving of dots. Result?? In the last few months, I amassed a sizeable collection of everything dotty, picking them up mindlessly but not without the intent of wearing them in loads come sun, snow or rain. And true to my resolution.... When the punch of spring spirit struck me this Sunday, I decided to get smack bang into my dots. Whether it was the boredom of Sunday or an itch for adventure, I don't know, but I let loose of my experimental side. It was time to mix things up and kick out the boring, so I shoved two dotty items into one outfit. A delicious tangerine polka-dot top connected dots with smaller polka-dots on a chocolatey brown skirt over which I threw in my favourite gold glasses (you can't do with
When it comes to the question of which is the most stylish city of India, Mumbai and Delhi immediately props up on your mind. However which of them leads the other in the style department is hard to say - the flamboyant and ostentatious Delhi or the laid-back, effortless and chic Mumbai? Image - Styledestino As much as I love Bombay (oh I am still in love with the name Bombay, it captures the essence of this city), I have to admit shopping is so much better in Delhi. Mumbai's Phoenix Mills featuring Palladium and Sky Zone vs Delhi's Emporio, Promenade and Ambience Mall, need I even say more? The first time I stepped in Emporio I was totally in love with Delhi's shopping scene. It has everything at one place, and for a shopper like me, who likes organised places, it was a blessing. Ferragamo, Dior, Cartier, de grisogono, Stella McCartney, Giorgio Armani to Mango, Forever 21, Zara to Tarun Tahiliani, Gaurav Gupta, Rohit Bal; from high street to couture from internat
If you choose to be happy, no one and nothing in this world can change that. Your happiness has always been and will always be in your hands. Why should I be dependent on anyone for anything? Problems, stress, heart break, anger, disappointment, all these are just a state of mind. I rule my mind and its in my hands in which direction to steer it. When I decide someone else is going to make me happy, I let my happiness be driven by their actions; when I leave it to my success at work, that success (or loss of it) affects it. But ultimately it is you who makes the decision who or what will make you happy. Isn't that funny when it comes to our happiness we become dependent on external factors, when we can choose to be happy all the time? After all happiness is my very nature. It's the first time I've used pictures taken from a phone (old i-Phone). They aren't great but surprisingly usable. Zara Bag , Only Belt , River Island Jeans , Mango Blue Top ,
Oasis Dress , Kurt Geiger Nude Heels My renewed desire to wear the hidden treasures in my wardrobe coninciding with the Valentine's day, which is the time you'll spot the most reds, is just a sheer coincidence. I got this dress from Oasis back in my university days in England and wore it twice, and it has been warming my closet ever since. I absolutely fell in love when I first spotted this polka dotted red dress. It was the perfect whimsical piece to feed my desire for a feminine dress that was so missing in my wardrobe back then. And although it's length was far away from the perfect knee-length I stick to, to elongate my petite figure, I purchased it regardless. Pearl strings, updo hair and a pair of nude heels was the perfect way to complete this look. This look is so deceptively flirty yet refreshingly elegant (I think pearl strings did the trick). Flirty, retro and elegant, all at once. I can't even recognise myself here. ..............
Finding a gift for a man can be a tough task, the choices are limited and the usuals - box of chocolate, bouquet or a shopping spree do not please him. I am not an expert, but over many SOS gifting ideas for friends, having to help my brothers and guy friends with their shopping, I'd like to believe I've acquired some knowledge (or atleast a broad idea) about what would make as a good gift for men. So for this Valentine's I've made the task easier - smart gift ideas for Valentine's Day to suit all budgets. I've squared down the gifting options into few categories: fashion, gadgets, watches and grooming (includes pampering). I'd update this list time and again to ensure the list is fresh out from the oven. Tink! Contemporary Tateossian Cufflinks have unique and really drool-worthy options that
Source There's absolutely nothing like the classic combination of black and white. It works magic and looks really pleasing. It feels so nice when you see things as either black or white, with no grey areas. As a person I've always believed in not having grey areas. Grey areas usually create confusions and make your life complicated. Shouldn't life be simple? It's so interesting how sometimes one thing leads to another and how the same thing can be interpreted in so many ways. Take for example black, white and grey. I just googled the term black, white and grey areas and found two very different arguments. One was close to what I said about having things as black and white to keep things simple. While other interpretation of black, white and grey was - one should not be staunch about their beliefs and not categorise everything as black and white. There is a need for some space for grey areas to explore life and leave room for change and be rece
A stroke of midnight and the year changes from 2011 to 2012. Isn't that amazing? There's a little bit of anxiety and loads of excitement of what the year would have in-store. 2011 had been special year as I laid the foundation of this blog sharing my passion of fashion. It had also been about travelling and lots of great memories. Here's a snapshot of the year 2011. New year means new beginnings. It means to let go off the past and look forward for new beginnings, living every day to the fullest. Our problem is we think and fret too much over what happened in the past; and worry and plan too much for the future and forget what we have today. Tomorrow is gone and there's nothing we can do about it and what will happen tomorrow we don't know. So its important to focus on today and make the best of it. Its never too late to start over. So why not start it from today. Wish you a wonderful 2012!!!!
