(Last updated: 25-Sep-2016)
Almost every day I fret over how to do my hair and more often than not, I end up tying it in a ponytail to keep it fuss free at the office. However when it comes to getting a haircut, I always look for the best.
We all know that how important a haircut is. Having my haircut done in some of the best salons in the world (Shunji Matsuo, Toni and Guy, Andrew Barton, etc) and after a lot of experimenting at myriad hair salons in Mumbai, here is a review of the best places in Mumbai to get a good haircut.
1. b:blunt
Mumbai's trendiest hair salon where you are sure to come across some or the other bollywood biggies. A chic salon, set up by Adhuna Akhtar, is one of the best places in town to get a great haircut. Transform dull hair into wow factor hair with the help of renowned hair stylists of b:blunt, stylist to actors such as Aamir Khan, Preity Zinta, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan. Their friendly staff will suggest you the hair style best suited for your hair, but make sure you tell them if you have a specific need (like not going too short). And when you visit the salon, you might be getting your haircut next to a bollywwid biggy or a leggy model. They started their first salon at Peddar Road and now have branches across Mumbai including Juhu and Bandra.
Apart from their 'great haircuts', you can also indulge in one of the Kérastase hair treatments to relieve you from your stress and leave your locks visibly healthier, shinier and smooth. The range of hair extensions at b:Blunt is however limited so for hair extensions you could try some other hair salon.
Recommended Stylist: Avan Contractor, Osh (charges about Rs. 3,500) and Naz (charges about Rs 1,800).
Charges: From Rs 800-4000, for a hair wash, cut and blow dry, depending on the stylist you are choosing. They do hair straightening, manicures and whole lot of other treatments.
Note: review of hairstylist Kadamberi for men is not good from the readers, so guys you may want to consider some other stylist.
b:blunt - South Mumbai

6. Mad O Wot by Sapna Bhavani
Another popular celebrity stylist salon in Mumbai is 'Mad O Wot' by Sapna Bhavani. A self-taught hairstylist, Sapna Bhavnani works the tresses of the limelight-prone — be it Bollywood celebrities like Bipasha Basu, Minisha Lamba, Priyanka Chopra, the Reddy sisters (Sushma, Sameera and Meghna) or the cricket brat-pack led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh.
They say, 'we don't follow trends, we create them'. So if you want something different, edgier or maybe funky this is the salon for you.

7. Toni and Guy
The famous Toni and Guy also opened its doors in Mumbai somewhere in 2008. It sure is a trendy salon (with white interiors) with their trendy hair stylists, but I wouldn't say much about the hair cut as was not good enough. But yes, finally, you can find the so-sought after GHD Hair Straighteners at Toni and Guy Mumbai at Bandra. They have two salons in town, one in the suburbs and the other in South Mumbai (don't know much about the Cuff Parade one).

The famous British hair salon, Saks located in Bandra and Andheri is a good option too. Other than hair they will also have manicures, pedicures and some state-of-the-air beauty treatments. It's a good option too -
Which are your favorite hair salons in Mumbai?
hi, my hair is curly n short. had straighten in 2008 but didnt last long. i m getting married in jan. so can i do rebonding? is their any gd stylist whr i can go and do?
ReplyDeleteHonestly I would really not recommend that you go for hair straightening using any technique. It is really harmful for hair and eventually you'll find your hair getting really rough and witnessing hairfall. I've seen that happening to many women.
ReplyDeleteSince you have time in your hands, I would suggest grow your hair and learn how to blowdry your hair straight and wavy, it looks really good. You could try youtube videos to learn. Also get a trim from a good hair stylist, read my post above (you can go to b:Blunt). You can visit Nirmala Shetty at Nirmal Herbals to get a natural hair treatment. They massage your hair with oil and apply all goodies for growing hair and making them healthier and she'll give you a good diet chart. This will help.
And for the wedding functions, you can use a straightener (exception and spray for heat protection). However if you still feel the need to straighten, then go to a good salon for permanent straightening as they use the latest technology and good quality products. b:Blunt is good for it.
hi i am a 20-yr old girl with straight hair medium length.whatever haircut i get the volume on my upper head seems less and it seems dull ,bald and thin.i really wanta nice haircut however i cannot spend over rs-500.can you suggest anything?
ReplyDeleteFor Rs 500 you could try Enrich or stretch your budget a little and visit Juice. Enrich I have not visited personally but have heard decent reviews from acquaintances. They havea salon in Vile Parle West and across Mumbai.
ReplyDeleteComment Posted: Hey,
ReplyDeleteVery informative write-up! I currently reside in Washington D.C., but am planning to visit Mumbai soon. Well, I have quite long hair- hitting below my butt, all of same length. However, there ain't much expertise among stylist here as far as long hair goes and hence I've never dared to entrust my hair with any of them. Considering this, which salon/stylist would you recommend- Christiaan Georgio or B Blunt?
Plz lemme know..
Thanks a bunch!
@Anonymous: I would recommend b:Blunt among the two. Since you have long hair, you should strongly tell them how short you are willing to go and be firm about it. They'll then work around it. You can go for a very senior stylist like Osh or try Kadamberi or Naz. All are good.
ReplyDeletehey am very fond of funky hair styles. I had a cut at hakims last month frm a top stylist sikandar but he spoiled my hair.. I have bit dry hair..Please recommend me a good stylist for male.. Please reply soon please do reply
ReplyDeleteplease reply to me asap and help me out
ReplyDelete@Sarth: For a good haircut, Chritstina is good at b:Blunt salon. She charges Rs 850 and is in their Khar salon. You can also go for Kadamberi @1800. Yesterday I was at b:Blunt and I saw Kadamberi working on a guy's hair and I quite liked what she did.
ReplyDeleteJust an update - few reader's have given the feedback that they did not like the hair cut Kadamberi gave them and she was not very friendly either. You can choose between her or other stylists as you may like :)
DeleteThanks... Suggest me someone who's good for funky styles... Are the ones you recommended good for funky styles also... heard Madowat's well known for funky styles if I am wrong correct me... Howz sapna?? Please suggest me the best one as I am a style freak... Charges don't matter..
ReplyDeleteThanks again for replying
ReplyDeleteWhich style do you suggest for me ?? I have a square face
ReplyDeleteHeard Edwin has left at JCB and also Christiaan has left at Hyaat.. Hwz Reene?? SOrry am confusing na he he .. Talked about many but suggest me the best from all of these.. I have a hefty budget.. I dont want to go with price but I want to go with a persons work.. Sometimes a person charging less can also be the best.. So pleasw suggest me the best and price doesn't matter
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Juice also I had gone there 2 months back.. The cut was not at all impressive.. Never tried b:blunt , JCB or Christiaan.. So will try whichever you suggest next time..
ReplyDeletePlease also tell me which is the best shampoo and conditioner which can help my dry hair to regain some moisture nd look lively..
ReplyDeleteplease suggest me the best and one who can do extraordinary haircut..... Thanks and sorry for sending these manny messages
ReplyDelete@Anonymous - I would recommend you visit b:Blunt and get the haircut from either Naz (Peddar Road) or Kadamberi (Juhu). They both are very good.
ReplyDeleteAmong JCB, b:Blunt and Christian Georgio I would recommend b:Blunt.
As for the shampoo, get Kerastase shampoo and conditioner. They have a store and treatment center at Palladium mall in Lower Parel. Their expert will analyse your hair and give you the best option for your hair type and problem. Kerastase is also available at b:Blunt salons.
@Anonymous - Hairstyle for Square Face: Considering that you are a girl (you didnt specify), I would suggest that you go for side-swept fringes. It will cut on the squareness of the face. Try getting the wispy side (fringe) falls just below the chin to make the face angular to create the illusion of a longer face. Soft curves will soften your jaw and hence would be great for square face. Hope this helps!!!
ReplyDeleteDear SJ, I am 25 year old girl. I have wavy hair with thick texture. Some time my upper layer of hair get frizzy.my hair keeps growing fast. My face shape is square. please suggest me which type of hairstyle will suit me best. My hair length is medium.
Deletehairstyle for square face for male I meant
ReplyDeleteFor men with square face the most important thing is that do not go for center parting style, it will accentuate the squareness and make your face look box-like.
ReplyDeleteAsk your stylist to give you layers in your hair and add height to the crown, which will make the face appear longer. Don't go too short, medium-ok short hair cut is best. Layers are your thing, they look cool and are easy to maintain without too many product requirement.
who is the best stylist at b:blunt juhu for men... Budget not an issue..
ReplyDeletewhom would you choose if given kadamberi and Naz
ReplyDeletehey am an aspiring model want to get a trendy cut How is Hakim aalim??
ReplyDelete@Ranbeer: between Kadamberi and Maz, I'd say Kadamberi for men as I have seen her doing good work. If budget is not a constraint then you can also go for Osh or Avan Contractor. They're the top notch and work on the manes of the who's who in Bollywood including Fardeen, Saif, Amir, Hrithik.
ReplyDeletei went to b. blunt and spoke to kadambari abt my curly hair problem. my hair is short and doesnt grow beyond shoulder. i m getting married in jan. she asked me to cut it in layers so tht it will be in shape. bt frnakly speaking i dnt wanna go for hair cut. pls help me
ReplyDeleteIf you don't want to go short, I'd suggest just get a trim, and if you like maybe fringes (long ones) to change the look. For the wedding you can try different styles like straightening for some function and getting waves for the others and keeping natural too.
ReplyDeleteDon't expirement if you're not comfortable with it.
thank u. i also wanna buy straightener of good company. can u let me know abt it.
ReplyDeleteHey. Great work on the blog!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a girl with waist length straight hair. I straightened it in oct 2010 from enrich. I had naturally straight silky and thin hair to begin with. The stylist anisha nair ( please avoid her) told me my frizzy hair would become smooth if I go for xtenso smoothening. She ruined it. Now its become too thin, falls flat on my head, and there is loads of hairfall. I think a haircut might help curb that. What do you think?
Please recommend a good stylist , good hair style that I should go for and some good treatment for my rapidly decreasing mane. It is silk soft and silky, but damn thin and falls flat on the scalp - no volume at all.
I'm 25, and have an oval face. Budget around 2 to 2.5 k.
Also, you mentioned kadambari in a few posts. is she good with straight hair for women? How about naz?
Thanks in advance. God bless.
-Troubled Tresser
Hair thinning is a common problem with honestly no guaranteed solution. You will have to do trial and error and find out what works best for you. I know a few people who tried Richfeel, but no results. Same for Dr. Batra.
ReplyDeleteAs for your haircut, you can visit Kadamberi and explain her what you want and emphasise that you want to maintain the length. Even the best of stylists have their limitations when it comes to thinning hair, especially on top. But you need to experiment and find styles that would hide the problem areas. Ask your stylist how can you work to create volume. I've got my hair done from Kadamberi a couple of times and I found her good.
Thanks for your help!!
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, I don't mind going short. Just need volume. A friend suggested mad-o-wat, and another suggested bblunt. In your opinion which is a better bet?
Also, naz doesn't show yup on their website...any ideas on whether she left bblunt?
For short hairdo and bob, you can try our b:Blunt. They have some really good stylists for that. You can call their Peddar Road Salon and check if Naz is working there or not. They dont have names of all the stylists on their websites.
ReplyDeleteHi, it's a nice blog. I have thin and silky hair which is dry at the ends. Do not want to experiment with it. Just need a good manageable style. Which one would you recommend - JCB, B blunt or Juice or any other place please?
ReplyDeletehi, i have curly n short hair. need to buy hair straightner for myself of good quality.
ReplyDeletepls suggest one which will be easy for me to use.
hi. i have this culry n short hair.need to use hair spray on occasions to make my hair sit at one place.
ReplyDeletepls suggest me some good one.
hi I have curly frizzy hair its long may b upto my shoulder blades..i want to get a different hair style but dont want to lose too much length...i normally just tie it into a pony tail..could u suggest a parlor which is not too expensive but experienced...
ReplyDeleteAny good stylist would be able to give you a good haircut. You can try Kadamberi at b:Blunt, explain her the problem and whether you can blowdry everyday or want something low maintenance. How short you want to go from front and back and she'll be able to work around it.
ReplyDeleteAs for hair straightener, GHDs are the best, but maybe difficult to find. You can go for other good brands but make sure you get the ceramic plated straightener. Check this link, it has details of beauty websites from where you can buy hair straighteners and other products for your hair: http://styledestino.blogspot.in/2012/02/online-beauty-stores-in-india.html
Hey SJ,I have long straight beautiful hair all of same length.I want nice haircut for my hair,i hv round face shape.please suggest me which one i should go layerd, feathers or blunt cut.I want stylish but decent look for myself.
ReplyDeleteFor round face I would recommend side swept fringes. Fringes look stylish and can be styled in various ways. Side swept fringe will cut the roundness of the face and looks really good. Length of hair is a very personal choice, but long hair usually have an edge over the shorter one, as you can style long hair in several ways.
DeleteLayers will add volume to your hair.
You can also check this link on what hairstyle will suit your face: http://beautify-flr.blogspot.in/2010/04/what-hairstyle-for-you.html
Hi...Thanks for sharing this amazin info ....need a haircut & my budget is 850...which stylist would u recommend from bblunt
ReplyDeletehi SJ, for men which hair salon n stylist wld u recommend? i hv a broad forehead n thin hair...pl reply...
ReplyDeleteHi SJ, for men which hair salon n stylist wld u recommend...i ve a broad forehead n thin hair...pl reply tks...
ReplyDeleteHi HS, I would recommend you visit Jean Claude Biguine and try one of their French Stylists. All of them are good.
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI have hip-length semi frizzy locks!! Never tried any hair cut. My face is full and it's cut is round.
Have a broad fore-head.
Now is the time I wanna o for hair- cut but before that I am considering permanent straightening as an option.
I want bangs to cover my forehead and do. It want to reduce the length.
Please suggest keeping all my desires and demands listed in mind.
Thank you in advance!
Hi Malvika
DeleteFirst I would not recommend permanent straightening as it is really harmful for hair and will dry them out and might even cause hairfall in the long run. So avoid that.
With right hairstyling and care you can get rid of frizziness. You have the perfect hairstyle on your mind - for your round face going for side swept bangs would be a good idea. Side bangs will cut the roundness and adds angles to the overall face shape. You can go shoulder length. But avoid keeping the bangs too short as it will accentuate cheeks making your face look fuller.
Long layers also work well for round face as cutting layers starting from cheeks elongate the face giving an illusion of oval shape.
Hope this helps!!
Hey SJ on ur recommendation I went to bblunt.. The first cut was average adn after 2 mnths when I went back WALTER spoiled my hair.. FYI am male.. Which other saloon u recommend and also please specify name of the hairdresser also
ReplyDeleteHey Sarth, thanks for sharing your review with b:blunt. I know a couple of good salons but they're not the really 'known' brands. Let me know if that's ok with you. Also what area you are looking in? Will Juhu be fine?
DeleteMy review was not general about b:blunt, it was purely based on my experience. May be other stylists are good. Any area in Mumbai is good with me until the hair dresser doesn't spoil my hair style.
DeleteFYI, SJ Naz has been transferred to Delhi B:Blunt
DeleteThanks Sarth for the update. Am sure Delhi-ites will be happy to have Naz in town to take care of their hair!!!
DeleteHey hwz Biguine ?? Which hair dresser do you recommend for men and which branch Bandra or Juhu.. Am groeing my hair since 10 weeks B:Blunt has cut it so bad...
ReplyDeleteActually Jean Claude Biguine is quite good for men. Earlier the French stylist Edwin used to work wonders on men's mane but he is not in Mumbai anymore. I've heard good review of their French stylist in Juhu salon (I think her name is Celine but double check that 022-66995555) and even Nadeem is good.
DeleteYou can also try Dilshad Pastakia (she's quite famed celebrity hairstylist)in Bandra (Dilshad's salon 022-26431770, 26430120).
Good luck, am sure you'd get a wonderful cut this time.
Hope so that I get the best one
DeleteHello !
ReplyDeleteActually I want a new haircut since I'm going to a boarding for 2 years. It's a school so I've to keep in mind that my hair shouldn't come over my eyes or something that way (I've to tie it up in a ponytail). And I'm not sure about my face structure. [I'll upload a pic of mine so that you can figure out my face structure and so that accordingly you can suggest me something good].
I want a funky haircut actually, but yet a bit decent for school. I've seen that above you've mentioned Alam at Juice or b:blunt, I prefered Alam because he was in my budget too, but then I heard that he no longer works at Juice. I can spend max 800 rupees on my hair. Any place will do! Please guide me where to go, which parlour and which stylist.
I'll be coming to Mumbai maybe the 1st or 2nd week of May. So I've to take an appointment I guess. So please give me the numbers too of each of the salons you recommend so that I won't have any problem when I reach Mumbai.
Sorry, I'm really confused, lol. I'm actually mixing up thing, but please understand :P
Umm, my hair is meduim length, straight wavy types; but more of straight. (you can see it when I upload the pic; I'm REALY CONFUSED ABOUT MY HAIR). And please if you can, suggest me which haircut would suit me, though I'll take the stylist's reccomendation too.
Umm, I guess that's a lot now and you have it mind what I actually want. It has to be FUNKY please!!
Thank you in advance and please revert back soon. I'll be waiting. :)
I'm confused why my pic didn't upload though I uploaded it. :S
DeleteHi Shaswati!!!
DeleteGoing for something funky yet maintaining the balance for the school can be tricky.
You can go for side bangs little longer in length, something that would end just a bit above your chin (this way you can tie them using some bobby pin and the bangs will give that edge when you want to keep them open or tie with the bangs out).
Alternatively you can go for an angular bob (longer bob so you can tie), or maybe asymmetrical one. It looks chic yet edgy and can be easily tied.
For edgier cut, I'd strongly recommend b:Blunt, their stylists are good at it. Best would be to call them up and check with them who'd be the best option in your budget. There's a Parsi chic in their Juhu salon, I can't remember her name, who's quite good and would be around Rs 800.
I didn't get your picture, so don't know your face shape yet. You can always check with the stylist and they'll help you or can browse through magazines for some more ideas.
The number and address of JUHU and other b:Blunt is given above in the article. Hope this helps. Do share your reviews with us, would help others as well :)
Very informative & fab job done. Looking fr a hair-cut, budget not a constraint. Plz suggest the best of the list, fr girls plz.
ReplyDeleteHi there. You can go for Osh at b:Blunt or Sapna Bhavnani of Mad-o-wot, both are very good hairstylists.
Deletehave you heard of clarabelle in bandra..hear that she is very good...any input?
ReplyDeleteheard of clarabelle in bandra???? any input? i hear she is very good.
ReplyDeleteHi SJ.. Loved reading your review. Good piece of writing.
ReplyDeleteHave had cuts from Naz and she did a good job. She is not in town now.
I am 27 years pregnant and need a haircut for my thin straight hair rightaway...preferably a bob with bangs. Could you please advise -
A) if bob cut would suit my pregnancy rounding face:) or anything else for a "rounding" face
B) a stylist in bandra as good as Naz ..would Dilshad be good for a short haircut?? Have not heard much about her
C) is jcb a good option and a good French hairstylist u would recommend
Price is not a hold up. Anything for a good cut to go with my Pregy glow;)
Do help with your expert advice at the earliest.
Cheers..
Blossom
Thanks for your feedback Blossom.
DeleteIn Bandra I will recommend you visit The Saks Salon. Its an international hair salon chain from UK. Alam is quite good there and would give a good cut. I wouldn't recommend a Bob as it accentuates the roundness of the face. You certainly should go for bangs they look chic and would cut add sharpness to the face to cut the roundness.
JCB is also good, their French stylists are all good. But Alam is the first preference and he charges Rs 1,500.
Thanks for ure email suggestion. Alan from saks was gud, gt a totally cool hairdo. Luvin it
DeleteThank you SJ for recommending Alam. He did a fab job with my tresses! And he did cut in bangs which made my face sharper. Felt like I was with a friend more than a stylist. Super elated!
DeleteShagufta Blossom
Hi,
ReplyDeleteneed recommendation for stylist!... i have medium length wavy hair and my budget us around 1500. I checked at JCB... Edwin has left.. Kadambari at Bblunt charges 2300... JCB recommended Sabrina or Emily (both french stylist)... for a haircut..? pleease please help.. and I can only go to juhu or bandra for the haircut
Hey Giggle, since you are comfortable with Bandra I'll recommend you visit Alam at Saks Salon. He is quite good and would be within your budget.
DeleteHi SJ is this Alam good for Men?
ReplyDeleteHi Sarth. yah Alam is good for men as well.
DeleteHey, I went to naz recently and she did a fab job. And she is very much with b blunt and not transferred to any other city. Managed to get an appointment with her and checked. She's always available at the memos corner branch.
ReplyDeletefor mens hair cut...which stylist wld u recommend from Saks? i ve been to kadambari(bblunt)...dint like the cut she gave me....if not Saks , which hair salon n stylist wld u recommend ?
ReplyDeleteAlam at Saks is good for men. H charges about Rs 1500
DeleteHey!
ReplyDeleteIm 21(female), and i'm on the shorter side.. and so is my hair :)
i love short hair cuts and experimenting with looks..
i will be joining work soon and need a haircut.. in mumbai for a while
i think i want a short..but not so short-pixie..budget:approx 1000-1500
place not an issue..
please suggest salon & stylist
Hey Prassi
DeleteFor a short haircut I would recommend you fix any good stylist at b:Blunt. Call them up and give your budget and tell them what you need. Juhu and Peddar Road both branches are best so book only at one of these. You can look for Naz at Peddar Road one.
how much does Naz charge?
Deletealso ive tried a lot of haircuts already.. the previous one really made me lose my confidence on experimenting. so hope she gives me a confidence boost as well :p
and is Hakim aalim better or B Blunt?
b:Blunt is good.. Naz will charge between 1500-2100, you can call at their peddar road salon and check (numbers given above in the post)
Deletehi i am 19 years old girl iwant to go for keratine hair treatment which is the bestsalon for hair spa's...
ReplyDeleteGo to any good salon that does Kerastase treatment, in Palladium (lower parel) they have Kerastase store and salon (Jean Claude Biguine)
DeletePlease let me knw if the stylist Alam at saks is same as the one who worked at juhu
ReplyDeleteHey... Please let me know if stylist Alam at saks is the one who worked at Juice previously???
ReplyDeleteYes he's the same guy.
Deletehey cud you recommend stylists at b:blunt juhu other than kadambari..
ReplyDeletehey can u recommend a stylist at b:blunt at juhu....other than kadambari..
ReplyDeleteYou can try Avan Contractor she is there on some days at Juhu salon. I would also recommend Alam at Saks which is in Bandra.
Deletehey SJ!
ReplyDeletethere are no reviews about dilshad's salon here...can you let me know of a good salon ..i have long hair..dont wanna cut them very short...so the best possible style they can give as my past experience has been that more or less all salons have given me the same style...be it juice or the local one...
hey SJ!
ReplyDeletethere are no reviews about dilshad's salon here...can you let me know of a good salon ..i have long hair..dont wanna cut them very short...so the best possible style they can give as my past experience has been that more or less all salons have given me the same style...be it juice or the local one...
I have not been to Dilshad yet, but would try and research and review it soon.
DeleteYou can try Alam at Saks, explain him you need to maintain length but need to change the look. You could try some side swept bangs perhaps. If you want something edgy, try one of the French stylists and Jean Claude Biguine or Sapna or mad-o-wat.
Hello.. I have an Oval shaped face and wishing to change my hair style as i'd never did it yet from my childhood. Suggest me the best one to start off ..!!! N price never matters but I wanted perfection in my hair style.. Please gimme some best of all those mentioned above.
ReplyDeleteYou could try the Senior French stylist at Jean Claude Biguine, they give good cuts and can show you some smart ways to style. They have salons in Bandra, Juhu and South Mumbai. Bandra has some good French ones.
DeleteIf you're looking for the best, then Adhuna or Osh from b:Blunt are the best stylists, however appointment from them can be difficult. Nevertheless you can try.
Hello.. I have oval face and would like to change my hair style as I'd not changed it from my childhood. Suggest me the best salons mentioned above n price never matters..!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you go into your local hair and salon stylist they should always be able to offer you a solution to your hair styling. Sometimes its always good to have a second or even third option on these things. :)
ReplyDeleteHi SJ,
ReplyDeleteI think you are doign a great job here with this blog, by helping people out, Glad that you are replying to most of the posts, this is rarely seen....I have a situation too where I need you suggestion....
I am a male, getting married in december, I have grown my hair for a good haircut, its like a shahruk pony currently, I want to get a good haircut for my marriage and therefore getting a haircut done currently so that I dont experiment ont he last moment.
I donot use gel products and My hair is a little less in the middle, thought it has not started showing. My weight is also ont he higher side. I am looking for a stylist who can understand my hair, my body/face, the occassion and then give me a good haircut.
I stay in juhu, but ready to travel. My Budget is around 2 grands. A lil up and down would do.
Kindly suggest a good hair stylist.
Regards
Hemal
What are reviews for Hairstylist Kadambari (B:Blunt) for women?
ReplyDeleteKadambari at b:blunt is good
DeleteCan you give reviews about Dilshad hair salon?? Has any one tried that salon i really want to know about dilshad services..
ReplyDeleteI want to get review about dilshad hair salon..i really want to know if its good and if anyone has tried that salon...
ReplyDeleteHey thanks for the writeup. Its definitely very informative and useful. I have freezy hai and I am planning to go for something that will make my hair straight. Straightening/smoothening/relaxing ??? Which one and which place. I can spend any amount but want the best :)
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance.
You can go to Jean Claude Biguine for the straightening treatment. However, honestly straightening method of any kind is bad for hair. It harms the hair in the long term. I'd rather suggest you buy some good Kerastese products for fixing frizz. Learn how to blow dry straight (get a good one with ions and even cold dry option) and buy a GHD straightener (you can find at Toni and Guy).
DeleteHey Hie..!
ReplyDeleteI loved the blog!
Im very much skeptical about cutting my hair as ive not cut it for more than 3 years now!
ive hip length hair, its quite damaged towards then end..loads of split ends n all..
I really really love my hair..so i wanna go to a really nice place with a friendly and welcoming staff who actually is there to help me out rather than pin pointing my problems..and im looking for some of the really really good stylist who can help me out !!!!
Can you please suggest something..or some haircut..Ive a round face..ive wavy hair..with nice curls towards the ends
and also i loved the idea of an apple cut but im not quite sure it will suit my face cut?I also dont have straight hair fr it! :( what do you have to say?
Hey Radhika. First I'd suggest go for a Kerastese treatment for fixing the damage and split ends. For haircut you should go to b:blunt and ask for Osh. He's the best. If he isn't available then chk Avan Contractor. Good luck!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Thanks a lot!! :)
DeleteBut can you help me with some place to get Kerastese Treatment done too?
and any idea roughly how much it would cost me? as my hair length is long!
and Avan Contractor is also in b:blunt ???incase Osh isn't available?
Hey, could you please recommend someone that can thin my hair well and fix the current layers? Also, I am looking to dye it a shade lighter. Thanks for your help and time!
ReplyDeleteNot very helpful are you ?
DeleteHi and Happy New Year!!! Apologise for the late reply, was travelling. For a good haircut and colour, I'd suggest you visit JEan CLaude Biguine at BAndra. Ask for a senior Italian stylist. Hope this helps
DeleteHi , read you blog really nice and informative.i have medium length frizzy hair and so was thinking of getting smoothening done. Is it a good enough process any reviews about it? And I also wanted to know how much do clip on extensions cost and where can I find them? Do let me know what u think of the smoothening process and which salon would be good to give it a try and about the clip on extensions too.
ReplyDeleteThanks wud b waiting for your reply
Mumbai is loved destination for such Spa's. People will love such destinations. Great service provided as experiences by my own.
ReplyDeleteHey SJ!
ReplyDeleteI desperately need a new hairstyle. I look the same for as long as I can remember. I generally have shoulder length hair. Wherever i go for a cut, I generally come out with step cut and layers in the front. My hair is a little bit wavy, soft curls. Actually, wherever the hair ends, it curls around that part. If i try to keep it short in the front, like till between the ear and chin, it doesn't stay straight, it gets wavy and comes up and ends up looking not nice.
I want a short hair style, but generally the stylists advise against it. Because my hair is dry and would get frizzy and wavy n puff a lot if i shorten it. Does that mean i'll be stuck with my century old style forever n there's no short hair option for me?
Please suggest what style can i go for? Short styles would be preferable. My face shape is oval. And i want a low maintenance style, as I don't blow dry or use straightening iron ever. (and cus i don't earn!)
And also, which salon do i opt for? Budget: 500-1000. Can stretch a little more if after the cut i'll go " wow! my hair looks oh so awesome!" (even after washing the hair several times :p).
PLEASE PLEASE reply asap.
Hey Radhika, wish you a very Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteGoing short of long is a personal choice, and a good stylist can give you a good short cut as well. So I'd recommend that you try a good stylist and tell her/him you want to go short and they'll surely be able to help. b:Blunt's stylists are veyr good esp for short hair. Call them up and give your budget and see who can you get. Only go to Juhu or Peddar Road salon.
When you're getting the cut and before that, have a good talk with the stylist explaining your problem and how can they work around it. Also go for a stylist with experience, when you book check with them how many yrs exp they have. While getting the cut, get some tips on how to style your hair once you go short. They'll help.
Hope this helps.

ReplyDeletehow is sikander at hakim aalim's studio ? any idea ?

Hi sweetie
ReplyDeleteGetting volume in thin straight hair is a challenge. I understand what you mean. I'd suggest call up Jean Claude's Bandra salon and ask for an Italian stylist. Explain her your problem and what you need and what you don't. The stylist willl work around it.
I'd suggest go for fringes (side swept) as it suits long face. And some layers would add volume. Discuss it with the stylist as they're expert and you can give your ideas and understand. A good discussion before the haircut always helps, so do that.
Good luck
sorry I meant French stylist. Its a French salon
Deleteif you even suggest whether i should go for a keratine treatment, had some doubts:
ReplyDeletei believe keratine treatment gives bounce n volume to your hair
and if you also suggest a senior stylist in Jean claude, pls

Hey Spartan, you could get your haircut at b:Blunt. Within your budget Vanessa at Juhu salon should fit and she's good.
DeleteExplain her what you need, show some pictures if you want and you're good to go. Do share your experience. Have a great weekend ahead.
Hi
ReplyDeleteI am a sr. software developer(Chandigarh) working as a consultant(RCP, mumbai) tried b blunt(Kadamberi) for hair cut and found her impressive.
Thank you for sharing your feedback :)
Deletei m a 27 year old male, looking for a good hair stylist. i am an aspiring actor and require frequent hair cuts, also because my hair grows fast. i like to keep it medium long length. budget is a concern for me. 500 bux max. initially i used to spend more on top stylists but realised even the ones who charge less are good at what they do. so if u cud recommend someone in the price bracket of 500-800, somewhere near andheri west lokhandwala, versova or juhu... will be very helpful
ReplyDeleteHi Sahitya
DeleteIn Juhu you could visit b:Blunt (Vanessa I think charges Rs 700 and she is good). Do share your experience with us.
looking for a good hair stylist for men... price bracket of 300-800. located anywhere near andheri west lokhandwala, versova or juhu.
ReplyDeleteHi, I am looking to get a makeover. I have medium length hair, straight and thin. Currently in a few layers. I am visiting Mumbai and staying at Bandra bandstand. Just wondering if you could recommend a salon around the area? I also plan on getting my hair colored/highlighted. So considering all that who would you recommend? Thanks
ReplyDeletePS I'm a girl
Hi JJ
DeleteI would recommend Saks or Jean Claude Biguine in Bandra. Both are good and would be close to where you're staying. AT Jean Claude you could call at their Bandra salon (near Leelavati Hospital) and ask for any French stylist, they're good. Alam at Saks is also good. Good luck
Do share your experience with us
Hey SJ,
DeleteSo for some reason I managed to skip over the bit where you mentioned Alam at Saks! But anyway, went and got my hair highlighted and cut at Saks today with Sesenelle (no idea how to spell it) she did a great job with color recommendation and the cut. I had a wonderful time! Thanks for recommending Saks!
Hey SJ,
ReplyDeleteI'l be coming to mumbai in march, and I'm looking for a good hair colorist irrespective of the budget as long as I get the color I want!and I'm thinking of going for bangs as well..keeping this in mind which would u suggest b blunt, saks or jean claude biguine?please do tell me where the salon located is the best and which senior stylist should I ask for..thanks
hey SJ, have read your blog. very nice and informative. i am looking for a makeover. i have waist long hairs with considerable volume.have got them straight 2yrs back. as of now they are wavy near the scalp rest are straight. i am a female with round face. looking for a good salon anywhere in b'bay where i can get a nice makeover(not very funky and should be manageable at home). i am truly bored of my hairstyle n also of looking same since ages. budget is not a problem. please do suggest something good.
ReplyDeleteHi Meghna!!
DeleteIf you have voluminous hair, you can find thousands of ways to style your hair. I would suggest you visit b:Blunt and take appointment with Osh or Avan Contractor if they're available (approx Rs 4k for cut). If not then you can try Naz. When you are getting your haircut, speak to them and they'll show you different ways to blow dry to go away with wavy top and how can you style it smartly.
hey SJ, thanx for the reply. will go for b:blunt and keep you posted about the results.
Deletehey SJ, thanx a ton. will get an appointment n wil let you know about the results
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteFirst up just want to let you know you're doing a great job here!!Amazing that you take the time out to help people everyday!I needed to find out if you could let me know of anyone who can give me a decent haircut.Have seriously long straight fine hair.My budget is around 800 to 1700 bucks and I'm a girl.Thanks.
Hello SJ,
ReplyDeleteI read your article on the top salons in SoBo, and I too have heard some very postive reviews about the same, now my problem is that ,My hair are very straight and smooth and they just flow over, this means that I can't style my hair and hold it at that position without any gel, they revert back to the original position,Is ther any solution for this? an alternate shampoo? a different hair stylist? My budget is around 2k
Another problem that I encounter is that I usually sleep on my side ,and this generally means that moment I get up in the morning My hair is all standing up from the side of my head, this looks pathetic and it doesnt settle down unless I apply water and hold down my hair that too for about 45 mins otherwise they just pop right up, this just happens in the morning. I know it sounds kinda funny and contradicting when I say that my hair doesnt settle down in the morning but is usually smooth and free flowing during the rest of the day,but thats the way it is.
Pleeease help me,I'm looking out for your reply.I'm a guy in my early twenties, thanks in advance :)
Hi SJ,
ReplyDeleteLike your blog even more since i'v moved to mumbai:),would really appreciate it if you could help me out with salon and stylists names for my hair.I'v been growing it since ages and want a new not very short look.I have hip length straight fine hair.Would like it if you could let me know of a good place,my budgets around 800 to 2000.Am also looking to get blue streaks in my hair and want to know who would do the best job. Both places and stylists being different does not matter as i'm willing to go another time for the colour.Cut would be an immediate need. Thanks in advance!
hey Sweta, for haircut try Naz or Kadamberi at b:blunt. Colouring also they;re good, you could check with them. But with colour it will be above Rs 2000.
Deletehello. I have been a victim of a botched haircut. Please advise me a good salon to fix my hair :(
ReplyDeleteHey sj i really liked ur blog., i m utsav and

Hey there, first of all thank you for such an informative blog. I currently have shoulder length hair. Had gone to JCB 2 years ago to get my hair cut short from Edwin who was superb..since he left, no one else has been that great with short hair so I have taken to growing it shoulder length, but not too happy with it. I have fine, straight hair and the growth is very dense. Have been to shimsha in be blunt who is okay but not that innovative. I don't like to blow dry to style my hair. Could you recommend anyone who is good with short haircut for women with straight hair? Many thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your feedback. For short hair try Benaifer at b:Blunt, she is good. Avan Contractor is also good
DeleteHey, nice work.. m reall impressed with ur blog.

DeleteHi SJ
ReplyDeleteI am in a big big trouble with my hairs. After going through your blog I felt that you really can help me. I am male age 30. I colour my hair since past 10 yrs and use hair gels very often. As a consequence my hairs are now thin rough and brittle. I have a receding hairline from front and an oval face I have grown my hairs to a medium lenght so as to get a new look. Next week is my wedding.
Kindly suggest me
1.what haircut will look good on me for reception
2.a good hair stylist to transform my look with a haircut and hair colour
3.should I get some hair treatment done to get life back to my hairs so that they look soft n shiny.
My budget for haircut is between 2-2.5 k
Please help me out with someone really experienced coz I don't want to take any risk for my big day.
Thank you in advance
Cheers
Waiting for reply....
DeleteHey, extremely sorry for the delay, was travelling.
DeleteSince its your wedding, you would want something smart but not trendy. Playing safe is best. I would suggest you go to the French stylist at Jean Claude Biguine Juhu (a skinny girl, you'll have to call and get her name). Discuss with her what kind of look would you want. If she's not available, try any good male stylist (Senior) at b:Blunt (Juhu or Peddar Road).
You can go for treatments like Kerastase hair ritual, that would make hair soft (available at b:Blunt and Jean Claude). For the wedding day, you can ask the hair stylist to use Toppik on your hair (they're powdered hair fibres used to conceal bald patches). If they dont have it, you can buy it from Beauty Palace in Oshiwara.
I hope this helps. Good luck for the wedding (hope you got this message on time)
Thanks a ton SJ.
DeleteIt would be great if you can tell me name of the skinny girl hair stylist at JCB. I want to fix an appointment on phone before going. So it would be difficult to identify.
Or else if you may tell me the name of b blunt senior hair stylist. It would be really kind of you.
Cheers.
Her name is Celine and she charges Rs1685 for men's haircut
DeleteAlmost 25 times a day I am checking this post to get your advice SJ.
ReplyDeleteKindly reply ASAP
Thank you
Apologise for the delay, read the reply in the previous comment
DeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteI have shoulder length wavy hair. I wanted to get a smoothening treatment done with some highlights for an upcoming wedding and I am really confused about which salon will be my best option, since this will be my first time. I would really like your opinion on it, that would be great.
Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks.
Deby.
You can go to any good salon for it. John Paul Mitchell is recommeded. You can take ure own product if they dont have it, cos these hair smoothening products contain chemicals that are harmful for health. I cam across this article, you shud read it too: http://www.elle.com/beauty/hair/sleek-dreams-best-new-hair-smoothers-560414
DeleteJohn Freida is also good. FOr salons you cud try b:Blunt, Saks, Juice, Jean Claude Biguine,, all are good.
gud luck
Hey SJ,
ReplyDeleteYour article makes a gud read. I hv recently moved to andheri and am in desperate need of a different hair cut. I was a regular at juice colaba before this but each time left the salon with steps. What wud u recommned for a diffrent look. My budget is Rs. 700-Rs.1000.
thnx
Could you please tell me how much a haircut by Christiaan Georgio cost?
ReplyDeleteHi SJ..
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has long natural curly hair..if she leaves it after hair bath without combing, it takes string like formation naturally.. now she wants to go for short cut.. which style would suit her? who will be the best hair stylist/salon for her ?
Hi SJ,
ReplyDeleteI hv long curly hair.
After hair bath, I dont comb my hair for natural spring like strings ! Now i want to go for short cut.. Will u pl suggest me a good hair stylist for my kind of hair in mumbai ?
For short hair I'd recommend Celine at Jean Claude Biguine Juhu salon. Explain her your problem and she'll give you a cut suited for you. Also ask her different ways you can style your curls and the best hair products to make the best of curls.
DeleteGood luck :)
Hi SJ,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! I am thinking of getting a Mohawk (a proper one!). I have natural blonde hair, broad head and wear specs. Which salon out of B-blunt or JCB would you recommend for GUYS and this particular cut? I don't wanna mess this up, because if it turns out bad, i'll have to trim my whole hair down. I generally visit Juice and they are decent. I am confused as to which out of these salons would be better for the required cut? Also, would a Mohawk look good with a broad face and specs?
I am ready to spend around 800rs. Also, please suggest me a stylist along with the salon, if you can. Or else it ok. :)
Awaiting your reply.
hey there, Mahawk works well on square face, but you got to get the style right. If you already have a set hair dresser at Juice I'd suggest you get your haircut dont with him, unless you're not sure if he can give you the right style.
Deleteb:Blunt, Biguine both are good, but it really depends which stylist suits whom.
You can book a senior hair stylist at b:Blunt (For mohawk I'd recommend a male) or you can visit your regular one. Try a more conservative mohawk like David Beckham than a funky one. Hope this helps
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am looking at a more conservative one than a really out of the top one. My current stylist is a female, plus I don't think she would be that good for a Mohawk. Hence I am looking at B-Blunt and JCB. Really confused between the two though. Could you suggest me a stylist in the sub 1000 range? It would be really helpful.
DeleteThanks.
Why dont you try Alam at Saks in Bandra? He was with Juhu earlier. He should fit your budget. Alternatively, in JCB ask for a senior guy stylist, they're all good.
DeleteHey..i have curly hair and i am just 19 years old(male)..wanna get a good haircut according to my face(round face)..

Hi Maghav
DeleteYou can visit Biguine at Juhu and book a haircut with Celine (She'd fit in your budget). Explain her your problem and discuss with her what haircut would look best on you. If you have specific cut in mind carry a picture of that, it will help. Do share your review with us.
Dear SJ, love your blog. I like experimenting with my hair be it colour or different styles. last time i coloured it from Hakim & got spoilt. my hair are damaged with colour & straightening. I need a good haircut, change my hair colour & may be a keratin treatment too. Please advise
ReplyDeleteHi Farheen
DeleteColouring and other chemical treatment do damage the hair in the long term. But if you do it, you ought to maker sure you give your hair the right nourishment. I'd suggest you try this place called Nirmal Herbals (google it online and check their website) and try their Hair Treatment for 8 weeks (Every week) and see if there is a difference. They give natural food treatment on your hair which does help.
For hair cut and coloring try out Jean Claude Biguine. They have good stylists. You can take the keratin treatment from them only.
Hey SJ
ReplyDeleteThat's a very informative blog!
Need a little help from you. I have shoulder length hair which is very thin and wavy. I'm in need of a good haircut which can atleast show some volume on my head. Which salon and stylist do u recommend in bandra or south bombay? My budget is around 800-1000.
Thanks in advance... Awaiting reply!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteYour blog is brilliant!
I have straight long hair (about 5 inches below shoulder length) and I am looking to get a trendy haircut, without losing the length. Where do you suggest I go and can you please recommend a hairstylist. I want to go in the next two days.
My budget is about 800-1000.
Thanks a ton!
I'd suggest go for side swept bangs (fringe), It will cut the roundness of your face and add some drama to the front. If you want to tie, you can use pins to keep the bangs in place. Naz at b:blunt is a good stylist and should be able to give you the desired hair. She will be a bit above your budget, if thats a problem ask for Vanessa at Juhu b:blunt.

Hey Shubhanjali, For colouring you can visit Saks, they are in Andheri and Bandra.
Deletehey SJ,
ReplyDeleteluvd your blog & hats off to u for helping us with your wonderful suggestions.
I'm 28 yr old female, planning to get a hair cut done. I have a long face & after almost 1.5 yrs of managing & oiling my hair regularly have managed to grew my hair till waist. Now have a long straight hair.. pls suggest me a hairstyle & the best hairstylist in town.. also want to retain the length of my hair hence suggest me with your response accordingly :)thanks in advance.
Hey, thanks for ure feedback.
DeleteI'd suggest you get side swept bangs (or if you like to experiment and go bold, front straight bangs). They'd look great with long hair. Add some layers in the length, it shud look fab. Side swept bangs look gud pretty much on all face shape. As for hair stylist, you could try the French stylist at Jean Claude Biguine or Kadamberi at b:blunt. Be very specific with them and reiterate 2-3 times that you want to maintain length.
gud luck, do share your feedback of haircut and stylist, will be useful for readers
