About Me

My photo
Style Destino is my personal style space bout cruelty-free and vegetarian style. Fashion is not above someone's life and it is irresponsible when someone makes a fashion choice that involves taking a poor animal's life. I believe in style that has a conscience. We are in 21st century where technology has advanced immensely, there are myriad options available and any person with a desire can make things happen. So it is sheer selfishness and irresponsible behaviour when people make unethical fashion choices. Through StyleDestino I share everything cruelty-free and ethical in my style. I do not use any handbags, shoes or accessories made from leather (animal skin), the make-up I use is also vegetarian and cruelty free. Luxury and compassion can coexist stylishly and Style Destino is an attempt to prove just that. Vegan fashion is not about dowdy clothes, cheap bags, or tawdry shoes. I can just easily be vegan and trot in my Olsen heels, sporting a Stella McCartney luxurious vegan handbag while showing off my red lips painted with OCC lip tar!! I travel the world around and never find dearth of stylish, high quality vegetarian fashion.

Weekend in Dubai Marina: Eat, Shop, Party & Chill

Dubai Marina Guide - Best Vegan Marin - Vegetarian marina, shopping in marina dubai - Vegan fashion - Style Destino

I am legitimately living in a suitcase since past 9 months. Mumbai, Dubai, Delhi, Scandinavia, Croatia, Milan, Dubai and back!

Since I've been going to Dubai a lot lately recently, during these trips I discovered so many interesting new places in Dubai, met such amazing people from around the world and explored some really great places to eat {vegan}. While no place can beat my favorite shopping destination London, Dubai is also a heaven for shoppers with the mother of all malls "The Dubai Mall" and other many other unexplored places to shop.

By far I can unwaveringly say that Dubai Marina is my favorite place in the city. Of course it's near the sea but other than the view {that's so calming at any time of the day} this place offers so much more.

Chill-out & Party
Anyone who's ever come to Dubai knows Barasti Beach is city's hottest hang out place that rocks from early morning to well early morning (3am?). Its multi-level deck offers plenty of options whether you want to rock on DJ beats on the beach {the music isn't cool but the energy of the crowd makes up for it}, or just unwind and listen to in-house live band or enjoy some old numbers while sipping your drink and watching the ocean.

Zero Gravity is another of my favorites which has everything from beach, lounge and garden overlooking the spectacular ocean and is set on Dubai Skydive {if you're feeling adventurous book yourself for this early}; where if you're lucky you get to see the skydivers plunging to the ground right next to you. You'll also find the best Dubai crowd and get great music here esp during the winters.

One&Only Royal Mirage Hotel has so many great restaurant and bar options to chill out in Marina area. If you love quiet and clean beach time, you can ask for their one-day beach and pool access (it costs somewhere around AED350-500). Their Eauzone restaurant and bar located in the middle of the pool overlooking the Arabian Sea is the ideal place to wind down during sunset or after work and a great place to enjoy some drinks (they have great mocktails). It has both indoor and outdoor seating option, so you can enjoy this place even in the warmer weather. It's my absolute favorite place. There's also Jetty Lounge overlooking the sea, which is perfect for a romantic time. The Rooftop Lounge is another good option in the hotel to have some drinks, when the weather is pleasant. Its located on the first floor and has a great ambiance and music to relax and have some conversation. None of these restaurants are vegetarian or vegan, but you can surely enjoy some drinks and find a few vegan-friendly options.

When you are in a mood for a stroll and maybe  a cup of coffee, there's nothing like Marina Walk. I love it especially during evening right before the sunset or by the night when the reflection of lights on the water and the interesting Arabic music playing in the background works magic on your gloomiest of mood. You can have some really healthy and delicious smoothies and juices at Misk Al Bahar on Marina Walk near Bateel Cafe.

Shopping
Nothing can beat The Dubai Mall, but Marina Mall is also a great shopping option if you don't want to walk miles to get from one store to the other and still get the best. A curated mall, it has most good stores you'd want to shop from - Reiss (love their stuff, makes me miss London even more), River Island, Ted Baker, Diesel, Karen Millen, Dune, Steve Madden, Sephora to name a few. And when you're hungry you can always take a bite at the most amazing Belgium place Le Pain Quotidien - superb service, very friendly staff and of course vegan options on the menu. They also have Waitrose if you want something to eat on-the-go {look out for vegan options in special food section}. I'd definitely recommended the super yummy almond milk from Muncherie (the vanilla is my fav of all) that Waitrose has.

For your vegan beauty needs and regular everyday stuff like toothpaste, shampoo, supplements visit any of the Pharmacies in Marina {especially Life Pharmacy they have Nature's Gate and many other vegan brands} and you'd be surprised at so many vegan options at the store.

Looking to shop something more up market but edgy and young? Then hop on the tram {I love the tram ride in Marina, reminds me of Milan!} or a cab and head to Jumeirah Beach Residence Walk. They have my favorite store in the city Sauce - a multi brand concept store stocking designers from across the world from Mary Katrantzou to Mawi, House of Holland, Stella Jean, Sass and Bide and Manish Arora. The JBR Sauce has more beachy stuff than their Dubai Mall or Jumeirah outlets {its even called Sauce on Sea}, for obvious reasons, but you can still find something great for your date date or brunch with girls. I love the many vegan bag options you can find here and of course the jewelry!

At JBR don't miss the delicious fresh fruit lollies at Fruteiro Do Brasil, located just next to the cinema. This Brazilian chain offers everything made of fresh fruits and non-sense from tropical fruit juices, smoothies, cut fruits glasses, fruit ice lollies to even smoothie bowls (they're delicious and a complete meal in itself). Make sure to ask them not to add honey, yogurt or milk to your vegan order! For the perfect brew, you must visit my favorite coffee shop on the The JBR Walk called The Brass. They have the classics and some really interesting flavor and combos too.

By this time if you are hungry, head to the Egyptian place Dar El Kamar towards the end of the JBR walk. They have fantastic vegan friendly dips and breads. A falafel and hummus pita is a must try of course, they can easily customize the vegan option for you.

Care for a pizza? Lucky for you Z Pizza and Freedom Pizza offer vegan pizza options and both are located in Dubai Marina. The American pizza chain ZPizza (on Al Sufouh Road) imports Daiya vegan cheese from US and their pizzas are absolutely fantastic (they mention pigan, gluten free and organic option right when you log in to their website). Located at Dubai Marina Walk Freedom Pizza also offers vegan pizza and they also has some really good organic vegan salad options like the Superfoods Organic Salad and the Herb Infused Organic Garden Salad. It's also the place to get your hands on Coco Yogo vegan desserts.

End your weekend with a drink at the lounge at Sofitel. Nice music, real palm trees decor and interesting lighting is all you need to close a wonderful day!

How to wear a crop top with skirt?
On a separate note, I've learned that the best way to wear a crop top is pairing it with slight high-waisted skirt. It flatters every body type. A pencil or a full skirt goes best as they have slimming effect too!
