LA-Based WAMA successfully closed their Kickstarter campaign and their cool hemp underwears are now available on their website (Update June 2018).
Our underwear drawer is the most neglected space and it's time we gave it a little thought and invested in the right undies that not only look good but are also made from the right materials.

Even as a teenager, I was always particular about what goes in my underwear drawer. Although I may have skimped on my fashion buys, as a student, I always saved enough to get the best quality lingerie. Over the years, I did my research about buying the right kind of lingerie - the perfect material, and the right fit to set the right foundation. From my own experience and expert opinions, I've come to realize that 'being sexy' should not be the only criteria for buying your lingerie. It is very important that you buy one crafted from the right fabric and has the perfect fit - as it has an impact on your health and skin.
Most undies in the market these days are made from polyester - even the so-called cotton ones have polyester component. Polyester and even silk undies are not recommended by even doctors because they are not breathable and may cause irritation on the sensitive part of your body and even yeast infection (eww!). Cotton is one of the most breathable fabrics and often recommended for the undies, but we now have HEMP that's even better and more sustainable option. Plus, we all know the problem with conventional cotton - pesticides, the consumption of water, and the conversion of habitat to agricultural use. But what about organic cotton? The production of cotton is incredibly water intensive, and even organic cotton requires a lot of water and land. This makes hemp a better choice.
LA-based WAMA underwear has taken the task of creating world's best quality hemp underwear and they need our support to bring their product to life through their crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Their hemp underwear for men and women is not only great for your skin but also looks sexy.

For those who don't know, Hemp is a plant that protects the soil from erosion, uses less water than other natural fibers {don't be jealous Mr. Cotton} and is grown without the use of any pesticide. Hemp is the most natural, sustainable and healthy fabric at the moment (yup even better than cotton), and it's eco-friendly too.

Why hemp for your undies?
It's the perfect material for your gentle parts because
- it's anti-microbial (prevents organisms that cause odor)
- it's breathability and wicks moisture
- it is very soft and gentle
- it offers UV protection (so stepping out in sun in these babies won't be a problem anymore! I would never do that though).
I've been using these hemp underwear for a few weeks now and I have to say I totally love. their super comfortable and soft. The best part? They're free from nasty chemicals or synthetic materials.
Let's support Wama Kickstarter Campaign by purchasing their sustainable hemp underwear at a special price. The campaign ends on 24 November.
HEMP UNDERWEAR GIVEAWAY!
The Good News is I have tied up with Wama to give out one pair of their Hemp Underwear (men or women in any size) for US residents. To win a pack of Hemp Underwear, go to my Facebook Account and follow the instructions on the post (also follow Style Destino, Follow WAMA Underwear).

Another interesting (live) Kickstarter campaign that caught my eye is the Bohempia shoes - you guessed it right - it's made from Hemp too. Support their sustainable hemp shoes campaign here and get shoes starting from $34!

While I love Kickstarter as you discover great products and support small brands bring out unique products to the market, the problem is there is no accountability on Kickstarter's part.

I participated on LIAN & MÉZ Timepieces's Kickstarter campaign and unfortunately my watch never arrived. The founders kept saying we have shipped, but never shared any tracking number. To this day, my money paid to them was never refunded. Kickstarter didn't really help and nor do I think they take any accountability. This way, any company can raise funds and cheat on people.
So make sure you understand the risk when supporting any brand on Kickstarter.
