Quan Spa Mumbai: Review

Quan Spa Mumbai: Review

Quan Spa is one of Mumbai's most well known spas set on a sprawling 10,000 sq ft area inside JW Mariott Hotel Mumbai. I love my regular spa and facial regimen and this was the first time I visited Quan for a treatment. Here's a quick review ( Image source ) Where: JW Marioot Juhu Tara Road, Mumbai The Spa: Located inside one of Mumbai's finest hotels in Juhu, Quan Spa is one of the oldest luxury spas of Mumbai and has quite a name in the Mumbai Spa industry. They offer everything from massages, facials to Ayurvedic and water treatments. The spa has a very impressive lobby with a water wall installation by artist Sunil Padwal, immediately giving you a feeling of calm and tranquil. The spa speaks of luxury that is one of the important factors for me when choosing a spa{it gives me an assurance of product quality and hygiene}. Service: I am a complete spa junkie. This was my first time at the Quan Spa but I was not really impressed with their serv

5 Vegan Lipstick Must Haves

5 Vegan Lipstick Must Haves

Are you vegan? Yes your diet is, but what about what's in your beauty closet? Knowingly or unknowingly most vegan and even vegetarian women although follow a vegetarian diet but forget all those ingredients used in their beauty and skincare products that are derived from killing animals or causing them torture. Being a vegan means not only eating vegan food but also using products that are cruelty-free and made without any animal ingredients or derivatives.  While many beauty companies smugly call themselves “cruelty-free,”  this just means they don't test on animals. But it does not mean all of them are vegetarian and vegan. Most of these companies use ingredients like beeswax and fish enzymes, carmine (red pigment derived from boiling insects), bone char, albumen (derived from egg whites) and other stuff derived from animals. Its shocking and downright cruel!  Until a few years ago even I wasn't aware that these companies use so many non-vegan ingredients in the cosme

Let's Talk Vegan Lip Colours

Let's Talk Vegan Lip Colours

Can I just say I am OBSESSED with  Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics  (OCC). Let me ask you first, have you been through phases? So a while ago it was the sunglasses phase, before that it was handbags and shoes phase {oh I think this one has almost become a permanent one}, then there was a longish phase of perfumes, if you go down lower on the time ladder, it was the stamp collection phase, pen phase and it can go on...... Right now its the coloured lipstick phase for me, where I have already amassed a sizeable collection of vegetarian lipsticks in all things colour, yet the hunger stays insatiated. Now the problem with all things colour in beauty is finding good vegetarian options, and in India particularly its a bigger problem. A few months ago, I discovered US based vegan beauty brand OCC and fell in love with their lip tars and colours - vibrant, happy, bright, pretty colours with choices that'll make you jump with joy.  Just when I was wondering how do I buy t

The Nails: Sparkle and Shine

The Nails: Sparkle and Shine

I am not one to experiment with my nails too much. Most of the times I go bared nails and even when I do put on some colour it is either a French manicure or classic red or fuchsia. To break this monotony I decided to try something completely different yet simple with my nails this weekend. So I headed out for a manicure (my poor hands badly needed some pampering after the torture I put them all through January and Feb). I couldn't be more happier with the results - I came out with butter soft hands and perfect glam nails - deep plum with gold glitter. After wearing this colour, I've received tonnes of glares and compliments on my nails, so I thought of breaking down the steps on how to get these sparkling nails yourself. Its easy peasy: 1. Apply the top coat on your nails. I used OPI Nail Strengthener. 2. Polish entire nail in OPI Honk if you Love (or any other dark plum colour), let the first coat dry and follow it up with the second coat. 3. Wait for th

Review: Veg - Butter London Nail Polish

Review: Veg - Butter London Nail Polish

Most days my nails go bare and a nude nail paint makes this girl happy, but problem is that its hard to not get succumbed by a nice bright colour every once in a while.  A good nail paint is hard to get by, so when you find a brand that makes nail paint that is free from any nasty stuff, is toxin-free and cruelty-free (no animal testing and no animal ingredients) and glides on beautifully you ought to share.  I've finally found the perfect colour and consistency in  BUTTER LONDON's '3 Free' Macbeth. You may be wondering its still the traditional pink but look through it's the pink you've been looking for.... super pretty colour that  sits perfectly between red and pink. Very rich, chic and sophisticated. ( Oh in case you're wondering, Butter London's called 3 Free because they use no toxic ingredients like formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP or Parabens) On a holiday to London last summer, I discovered Butter London's nail polishes but just t

What's a life without a challenge

What's a life without a challenge

What good a life would be if there's no challenge in it?........ That one  moment when you're giddy with pleasure for finding what you've been looking for all your life. Finding terre d'Oc lipstick was this moment for me. The relationship with me and my lipstick has always been a sore one and its not me but the lipstick that has to be blamed for its chip grease reaction. I've experimented a tonnes of shades and brands (the previously novice me with not-necessarily vegetarian and the now wiser me with vegetarian brands) but no avail. So a fter ransacking beauty sections of nearly all department stores across the world (in-person or online),  I finally found the best vegetarian lipstick ever from a French organic make-up and skincare brand - terre d'Oc  (and yes it contains no carmine) . Wahooooo!!  A reply from terre d'Oc, on the email inquiry sent to them, confirmed that they are a vegetarian and cruelty-free company - "we are not testing our

You don't need a man to feel sexy.....

You don't need a man to feel sexy.....

A good perfume makes you feel confident, sexy, ready to take on the world. Here are some of the perfumes in my closet: My love for perfume dates back when I was a kid and would quitely sneak in my dad's room and spritz his perfumes. In fact until first year of my university I never used anything but men's perfume (mostly), they were strong and pwerful and brash just a representation of me. ALmost made me feel one of the main characters of an Ayn Rand book. It was only when I moved to England for my studies that I actually got a free hand in picking perfumes for myself and choosing from the myriad options was a mind boggling but a fun exercise. So much so that ..... over the next three years I amassed a sizeable collection of perfumes, picking them up mindlessly without remembering the count of how many I gathered (there was a time when I almost had over 50 bottles), wearing some everyday while some still saved in my perfume closet (just trying to sound like a brat, do

Weekend Pampering at Jean Claude Biguine Juhu

Weekend Pampering at Jean Claude Biguine Juhu

Shopping was planned on Saturday, but after a late Friday night was just lazing around all day. The thought of being home all day on a Saturday spooked me so I thought of going out someplace that won't break the hibernate mode I put myself on. I thought of pampering myself and immediately called Jean Claude Biguine for an appointment, as it was the easiest being the closest. And hey what can be a better place for a good manicure than a French salon? Was happy to be immediately given a slot. How did it go? The short review - it was alright but I did come home with happy feet and hand. For an eloborate version of my experience, read on. The pristine white interiors and courteous staff immediately gives a feeling that you're in a plush salon. Unlike some of the other places, where the staff think of themselves as mighty and high (why do they do this is beyond my understanding as I don't think scaring away the clients is their intention), JCB had a friendly staff who
