Getting the perfect creamy texture in the smoothie brings great joy. And when it tastes like heaven in a bowl, it almost makes your day. Don't you agree?
Smoothies are a great healthy breakfast option. They're ridiculously easy to make, filled with fruits and veggies (aka nutrition), and are ready in just a few minutes.
I am all about the MANGOES right now. They are in season and make a great base for smoothie - they're creamy, sweet and add amazing flavor. Did you know that mangoes are packed with nutrition? They're high in fiber, and are good source of vitamins A and C. They also contain folate, B6, iron and are packed with antioxidants. Mango and berries have been my favorite smoothie ingredients lately - I AM OBSESSED with the combination.
To make a perfect smoothie bowls, you need to make sure you have the right toppings that are artfully stacked above the smoothie. You can play around with any toppings of your choice. You just need to make sure they complement with the smoothie ingredients, will enhance flavor and give a boost of nutrition.
In this smoothie, I added organic dark chocolate chips for antioxidants {and nice chocolatey flavor}, shaved coconuts because I love coconuts and the berries and chia seeds - both are well-known superfoods.
For the chocolate lovers, I also recommend trying out the decadent Banana & Cacao Nibs Smoothie recipe.
Today’s smoothie had the perfect creamy texture - the trick is to use frozen fruits. Using frozen mangoes, banana and berries turned this smoothie into a delicious nice cream - a breakfast everyone would love waking up to.
I freeze the fruits just the night before as I prefer to use fresh {seasonal} organic ingredients (not weeks or months old frozen fruits and especially not the packaged ones).
One important thing to remember while making smoothie is to always add whole fruits and leaves to your smoothies, never fruit juice or sweeteners. If you like your smoothie a little more sweet, add dates to them - but in a fruity smoothie you would not need it. I only add dates to my green smoothies that are heavy on spinach or kale.
Normally, I add one green leaf to my smoothie to boost its nutrition level and cut down the extra calories. However, since I was short of greens and was in mood for a 'berry' special treat this one is purely fruits.
Let's get to the recipe, I am sure you will love it.
Toppings
You can top it up with whatever inspires you. I've used sliced strawberries, shaved fresh coconut, chia seeds and organic dark chocolate chips.
Pour in a coconut bowl and add the toppings of your choice.
Serves: 2
Did you notice the coconut bowl? I was sent these by Revolution Real - a sustainable food and lifestyle brand in UAE. Honestly, I am so glad I received these because the coconut bowls that I got from Thailand had enamel layer on the inside, which I didn't like and I wanted pure coconut bowls since long. Finally I have it!
